Elon Musk appears to be considering a move into the social media tech after a series of tweets posted on Friday March 25th.

In a move that could dramatically shift the dynamics of the social media landscape Musk promoted the value of free speech as “essential to a functioning democracy”.

Musk put up a Twitter poll asking his 80 Million followers if they believed that “Twitter rigorously adheres to this principle?”.

Musk followed up the Tweet saying “The consequences of this poll will be important. Please vote carefully.” and going on to ask “Is a new platform needed?”.

The move comes as a series of conservative voices including satire news site The Babylon Bee, Charlie Kirk and Tucker Carlson have had their account activity suspended due to Twitter’s rules on “hateful conduct” we reported.

The spate of censorship comes as the United States gears up for the midterm elections in November and could be seen by conservatives as election interference.

Prominent conservative voices have urged Musk to buy Twitter, insisting the platform has a bias and fails to apply its standards in an impartial manner.

As of publishing this article, the accounts of the Bablyon Bee, Charlie Kirk are still locked while Tucker Carlson has been reinstated as reported by
