A large cohort of Victorian teachers have just lost their jobs as vaccine mandates for essential workers come into effect from Thursday, April 28.

Reports vary, with some saying as many as 420 teachers and others saying over 2,500 will be impacted by the COVID mandates, reported The Guardian and News.com.au, respectively.

The news comes amidst fears of increasing pressures on the education sector with many questioning the decision of the Victorian health authorities.

As reported earlier this month, many of the states vaccine mandates ended including the COVID pass system and Check in QR codes for entertainment and sporting venues, bringing an end some of the harshest COVID measures in the country.

Despite the recent easing of restrictions, Premier Daniel Andrews confirmed on Friday that the mandates impacting teachers would continue to be in effect, reported 7 News.
